Cultural perceptions of beauty

There have been many experiments trying to measure exactly how different our cultural perceptions of beauty are.

In 2014, journalist Esther Honig went viral after she sent a picture of herself to graphic artists around the world asking them to make her beautiful.  A slew of copycats soon followed and the idea that beauty may vary as much as language around the world became a popular notion.

Now onlinedoctor.superdrug.com asked female graphic designers in 18 countries to Photoshop a female form.  The results were interesting.  Some changes were sparse, but some designers made the model in the picture look like a completely different person.  Italy and China had the thinnest Photoshopped images while Colombia and Spain kept the woman fairly full-bodied.  Click here for the results.
